Without Connect-123, I would not have been given the once in a lifetime opportunity of completing my Child Life practicum abroad. Connect-123 allowed me to gain experience in a government-run hospital and even provided an incredible service opportunity in a township community. Connect-123 gave me the amazing opportunity to complete my Child Life practicum in South Africa for the month of July. I worked with an amazing group at a children's hospital in Cape Town.

Standard #1: The child life practicum is largely an observational experience. Standard #2: The child life practicum student will be supervised by a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) who has achieved a minimum of 2,000 hours of paid work experience.

Connect-123 was able to take my skills and experience and connect me with an environmental engineering project that I worked on for 8 weeks this summer. Over the course of my internship, I did data analysis of crops, forestry, and manure, research on biomass conversion technologies, and technical writing to sum up the research.

Since 2006, Connect-123 has worked with students from over 600 universities and has a number of formal university partnerships. We also have direct relationships with scores of career center advisors, study abroad directors and professors. As the child life profession grows we are facing some challenges with not having enough internship placements for the amount of students that apply.
